IoT's become 5G device by 5G-UE-Stack and eSIM. IoT's will be provisioned with userid/password, eSIM & 5G-Stack(5G soft phone) to operate. gNB is converted to IP-gNB and IoT can connect to 5G-IP-gNB through IP.
Continue readinggNB is IP connection based for IoT's, not 5G Radio. Connectivity coverage has no limitation, as long as IP connectivity provided and latency is acceptable. Device can use wired, WiFi, 4G/2G hotspot WiFi or Lora to get IP connected to IP-gNB.
